Jacek Sienkiewicz

Jacek was born in 1976 in Warsaw, where he still lives. At the age of 18, started DJing in Warsaw clubs, playing early acid and minimal tracks. 1996 saw his first live performance, and in 1999 first record appeared: CD titled "Recognition" gave name to Jacek's label. Soon first vinyl 12" was released, and since then Jacek is slowly building his homebase of Recognition Recordings: label devoted to contemporary electronic club music made with heart and soul. Apart from eleven EPs by Jacek, his label released also two singles by each Giro Arana (Polish 80s synth pop icon gone techno) and Etiop (young newcomer from Plock with a hip-hopbackground), as well as a single by DWA - collaboration between Jacek and Berlin's DJ Highfish.

While not busy with Recognition, Jacek managed to release a string of records abroad: after remixing Sven Vaths track secured a deal with Cocoon and became first artist to release an album on this Frankfurt label. EPs also appeared on respected German labels - Klang, Trapez and WMF, followed by remixes for Kotai and Jeff Samuel. His live sets played all over the world gained him an audience appreciating his unorthodox approach to the music formerly known as techno. Jacek played all the big events like I Love Techno, Awakenings, Nature One, Love Parade and Detroit (Fuse festival), played dozens of clubs worldwide - but also low-key art events - Transmediale, Mutek...
